With over 1,100 guestrooms and 360 room configurations in a Grand Dame building, Sunstone Hotels & Resorts completed a landmark renovation of rooms and public areas, with interior design by Parker Torres and the GS procurement team. The result is a return to grandeur for one of Boston’s most storied and central locations, and a part of the city’s heritage.

Three hundred and sixty distinct room configurations across more than 1,100 keys is a quantification and logistics challenge as much as a design one. Every configuration had to be counted, specified, and bought accurately, then delivered and installed through an occupied, landmark building without losing the thread on any room type.

Interior design for the guestrooms and public areas was led by Parker Torres, working alongside owner Sunstone Hotels & Resorts and the GS procurement team.

We handled the FF&E procurement for the rooms and public areas: quantifying 360 configurations, competitively bidding and purchasing the package, and managing value engineering to keep the renovation economical.

Expediting, warehousing, logistics, and installation were tracked across the full room count so that each of the many configurations arrived complete and correct.

One of Boston’s most storied and central hotels returned to grandeur, its guestrooms and public spaces renovated across the entire property while preserving its place in the city’s heritage.
